Blog and porkflash!

Awkward and honored! I made it on Poppytalk's ballot for Favourite Handmade Artist's Blog——thanks sweet Jen for the nomination (ahh, is this nepotism and love)?!

simpleshapes

Simple shapes lead to endless possibilities! We've been playing with this pegboard game from Playskool.

Which makes me think of these villages that I built while I was in Estonia number of years ago.

letraset portraits

On the first day of class, I have my students fill out index cards with pertinent course info, and on the reverse side they make typographic portraits using letraset——so that I can recall their names. I made these three, while they eased back in and acclimated themselves with type. Here are some great student examples from last year.

three good finds

u s e f u l and l o v e l y!

from Faulty Diction:
whack, what, which, etc
Pronounced hwac, hwat, hwich, etc.: not wac, wat, wich, etc.
The English are especially lax in the pronunciation of such words as these, almost uniformly dropping the initial h sound, while many Americans err by making the aspirate too sharply prominent.

Published by Funk & Wagnalls Company. 1909 – 1915.

I spotted and stalked this perfect club house in a fancy minneapolis neighborhood this fall. I could live here!
++
This is the first house I ever lived in——it was tiny! And get a load of these homemade stickers—YIKES—I made hundreds when I was six! Now that I've shared some of my graphic prowess, it's time to get rid of them.
